Jackson

It is kind of difficult to decide which is my favorite Jackson's song because there are a lot of songs that are really great. However, I have to choose just one and the winner is..... beat it!!!

This song is really good, I love the rhytnm and the lyric too, and also when I listen to this song I cannot resist the temptation to dance.

I used to sing beat it with my dad when I was seventy, I still remember!
It was so fun and since then I like Michael Jackson.

Also I think Michael Jackson was a great dancer and I wish I could dance like him!!

Inversion

Thanks to Language V, I knew the world of blogging. I had heard about blogs but I never get interested in, and also I didn’t know how to create an account or what should I write in a blog.

I still remember when I wrote my first post, it was so difficult because I knew that everybody could read it and because I had never written in a blog before.

To write in the blog helped me a lot to improve my writing skills and to recognize my grammar mistakes. Also I think I could develop my creativity, because in some posts we decided what to write and we could add wherever we wanted, such as pictures.

The best part of blogging was to read my classmates' posts and leave comments, because some of the posts were jolly interesting. Also I laughed a lot with Simon's comments because were very funny.

I feel that through the blog I could knew my classmates a little bit more because we always have to write our personal opinion. For example, I realize that I typed the same words in the Google search box as Pamela, because many time we chose the same picture! That was so funny!!

Also thanks to the blog I could realize that Marta is not my friend because she was always writing bad comments in my blog and she threatened to kill me too!!!

I think to write in the blog was a good experience and I really like it. Also the time I spend in the computer lab was enjoyable and relaxing.

Motivation

As future teachers we should know the importance of motivation, that's why I chose the article related to this topic.

I think the article is very interesting because it gives us some ideas to motivate our future students and also to know why some students are not motivated and interested in learning.

Thanks to the article I could realize that when a teacher is preparing a class, he or she should think not only in the motivated students, but also in weaks students, because they are part of the class as well and they get frustrated easily when they cannot do an activity.

Most of the teachers plan a lesson thinking just in the group of motivated students, because they think that weak students are not interested in learning. As future teachers we shoud know that weak students try to pretend they aren't interested, so they won't be called losers if they don't learn a content.

Also the article help teachers to know how important is feedback for students and that feedback is a double-edged sword because if teachers aren't carefull in the way they give a feedback, students can make classifications such as who are the clever students and the not clever ones.

I think motivation is an interesting topic and I wanted to know some ideas to motivate students. The article helped me a lot because it gave me good tips that are easy to apply in a classroom.

Creativity

I think the conference given by Ken Robinson was very interesting because Creativity is an important tool we should develop at school.

Unfortunately, subjects lile arts or music are considered less important than maths or language. Also schools don't let students to develop their creativity, even in arts, because they always have to follow a pattern.

When I was at school I never followed the patterns and I always got bad grades, so school doesn't help students to develop their creativity because they just have to do what the teacher said.

Nowadays most of the employers hope to have creative workers, so school should help students to develop this tool to be successful in their working future.

I consider that I'm creative but that's thanks to my father because I used to paint with him when I was a child. But I wish I could have developed my creativity at school too, so now I could be more creative.

Reading

I love reading and on vacation I always read a new book. In my summer vacations I read "Historia de una gaviota y del gato que le enseñó a volar" written by Luis Sepulveda, a Chilean writer. This story is very short but really interesting and I do recommend that you read this book.

Also I like reading books written by Shakespeare, my favorite writer. I love the book Macbeth and Otelo too! those books are great but kind of difficult to understand because the translation is in spanish but from Spain.

I think in my winter vacations I will read "Cuentos de Eva Luna" by Isabel Allende, because my mother read this book months ago and she told me that it is really good, so I will read it!!

Flutist of Hamelin

When I was in sixth grade I was a member of a folklore group and I played the recorder. I like playing this instrument but I would like to play the flute as well because you can play symphonies of Mozart, Johann Strauss, Beethoven, Vivaldi and all those famous composers.

Also I would like to play the flute to be a member of an orchestra because I like classical music and also because I think it would be an unforgettable experience because I still remember the first time I played in the folklore group in front of hundred people.

Me = Whitney Houston

I love singing but I don't sing pretty well, so that's why I would like to be like Whitney Houston. I think she's got a great voice and of course she's a very good singer.

The first time I saw her was in the movie "The bodyguard" with Kevin Costner. I remember that she was singing the song I will always love you, and when I heard her voice I surprised myself because she can reach a high pich sound without problems.

I think she should have continued with her career as a singer because she's good at singing and I love her prodigious voice.

Education is a human right

Without a doubt education is really important because an educated person has more opportunities to have a better quality of life and also can help to improve the economic development of the society and the stability of democracy.

I think knowledge is considered as power in our society and all over the world because the more education we have, the more opportunities to get a good job. And the better our job is, the better our quality of life.

Also an educated person can have a better social interaction because you can keep a conversation without problems, you have some values learnt at school. Therefore, you know how to interact with others.

The Ideal City?

I think this city is too idealistic because to live here you have to change your mind set and I don't believe that whoever can do that, so just some people can live in this city.

Everything seems perfect but to make this project come true it is necessary to have a lot of money and I don't think it is easy to get that amount of money, because just less people believe this project can work in our society.

I think that Victory city has advantages too, for example the transportation plan is great because you don’t have to wait an hour to take a bus and also we are going to live in a city with low levels of air pollution because elevators will be use more frequently than buses or cars. Also I’m not good at cooking, so to have this huge dining room is a great idea because people won’t need to cook anymore.

The pictures of victory city remind me a place in the movie The Lord of the Rings. This place is where elves live and it is called Rivendel. I was fascinated when I saw this place in the movie, so when I saw the pictures of this city I felt something special too.

I would like to live in a city like this, where everything is very organized, clean and with low levels of air pollution, but unfortunately I don't think we can make this dream come true, just because human beings hate huge changes like this one.

Living Alone

Nowadays most of the people want freedom and to have their own space. That is why the percentage of people who are living alone is increasing. We all have to choose between having a partner or be a single person but wherever we decide it is important to know that both options have advantages and disadvantages as well.

Less couples and more loners is the new trend of living. Most of the people don't want to share their own space and they like peace and quiet much more than having a partner. Also loners prefer to have a day without worrying about anyone else and they love their independence and privacy.

But of course there are still people who don't like loneliness (that's me). Some people do like to have a company, somebody to talk to and someone whom you care about and vice versa. But the most important thing is that they really like to have somebody to share their feelings such as love and happiness as well.

As far as I am concerned people are living outside marriage and they love freedom of having a place of their own. I know living alone has several advantages but I am sure I couldn't sleep at night alone, so I need and I want to have a partner to live with and to form a family as well.

My favourite movie

My favourite movie is The Lord of the Rings by Peter Jackson. One of the reasons I love this movie it's because of the main character: Elijah Wood. He is my favourite actor and his performance as frodo in this movie was really great.
I also like the culture of middle-earth and the story of the movie as well. Wizards, Elves, Hobbits, Orcs, all together fighting for a ring with fantastic powers. But of course the movie has much more of a meaning than that. It's a story of hope and how two little people save the middle-earth and commit to the impossible, dethroning an evil emperor.

But what about the visual effects? I think Peter Jackson and his team did a very good job because they worked a lot to create a physical and digital middle-earth to make this epic movie seem very real. Also to create Gollum they use a combination of a computer animation and motion-capture technology to give him realistic joint movements.

My favourite song

My favourite song at the moment is "Who's crying now" by Journey. Months ago I heard my father singing that song and I asked him the name of the song and I download it. I really liked the rhythm and the lyric as well.
When I listen to this song I feel I am in the seventies and of course I can't stop singing it.

Marta's Blog

I think that Marta's blog is great because her posts are very interesting and they always make me laugh. Also I like the pictures she added in her posts because are related to the text and it makes the blog look better.

One thing I do not like about the blog is the color, actually it does not have too much color because everything is white!! (excepting the text, obviously) and the theme she chose is kind of boring. I think she has to be more creative to put more color and pay people attention as well.

The post I liked the most was the letter of complaint because she chose a very good topic. Often copies are a problem we have to deal with everyday and we feel really upset with this situation. There is also a post I did not like at all, it was the interview because she asked me questions I was not interested in so I did not have good aswers.

I believe that Marta has to decorate her blog and make it look interesting. Also I would like to see some pictures related to her life, such as a photo of her niece or sister, Why not?

Dear president,

I would like F to submit a formal complaint in reference to my difficulties in acquiring copies of university texts. Our teachers constantly demand for us to go get copies, but every time I go, the photocopier is full and when I ask for them finally they make me wait many days,P while other days they have lied to me telling me they would be there this day and they are not. I have sometimes missed some classes because teacher do not accept us to go if we have not read the material the asked us or I have been until late to finish doing some difficult papers. I hope to see this situation improve, but the only way I see of fixing it is by sending us a photocopy center exclusively for (us the) English students, where we will be able to look for what we need without bother.

Letter of complaint

Dear Government,

I'm writting to express my dissatisfaction with the subway service. Years ago this public transportation gave people a good service but now everything is different because to take the subway is very unpleasant and is always full of people. For example in the morning I have to wait too much time to get into the coach and people push me all the time as well.

Nowadays the subway is an absolute chaos and is not as confortable as years ago. Most of people, included me, are having problems because of the subway, we are arriving late and also we have to deal with people who are angry, dirty and tired as well. Although I know that the subway is quicker than a bus I prefer to wake up earlier and to avoid taking the subway.

As far as I am concerned the subway service has to be more comfortable. This public transportation is not helping to make our lives easier, in contrast we are having serious problems and also we are paying for a service that is not good enough. I feel that you should have more coaches, install more fans in the stations and to finish as soon as possible the new extension of line one.

Easter

Early in the morning I hide my brother's easter basket in the house and he tries to find it. I really like to watch him! My mother gives me an easter basket as well but she doesn't hide it because I don't like. I have lunch with my grandparents in their house and we spend the day watching movies and eating chocolates.

This website is really good to improve english skills, for example you can find videos of pronunciation tips and idioms. Also there are a lot of series to know how to use phrasals verbs and you can read interesting news about what is happening in the world and at the same time you are going to learn more vocabulary.

This website is great because you can practice and enjoy at the same time. There are too many sections to improve different english skills, for example I really liked the section of phonetics because we can practice what we learnt in class, so it can help us a lot.
